Shakur Stevenson is again down the road of finding an opponent for his Lightweight title shot. At first, he was slated to go against the undefeated fighter, Frank Martin, for the WBC vacant Lightweight title. Meanwhile, the undisputed champion, Devin Haney, will be moving in the division to square off against Regis Prograis for a shot at the Junior Welterweight title. But the fight between Stevenson and Martin has been called off.
Currently, the PBC and Martin’s trainer, Derrick James, both are silent regarding the cancellation of the anticipated bout. However, Stevenson is already getting ready to move his focus to another fighter. He even called out Martin for ducking him and being scared of facing his remarkable skills inside the ring.

Shakur Stevenson doesn’t believe Frank Martin’s denial
Frank Martin may take up the fight, in the coming days, against Gervonta Davis, and many believe this to be the reason for stepping back from the Stevenson fight. Notably, Davis is the bigger draw than Stevenson, so from a business standpoint, Martin’s decision would actually make sense. But Stevenson is not ready to believe that logic.
He went on the social media site X and posted that nobody should support Martin at all. He wrote, “That man ain’t pull out to fight nobody else”. After this, Martin made a post emphasizing that he was not ducking anybody. He wrote, “I ain’t duck s**t…” But again, Stevenson hit ‘The Ghost’ up on the X. He just replied to this statement with a blue cap emoji, thus calling him a liar.

But, as it seems Stevenson doesn’t want to put much attention to Martin now, as he’s already eyeing the next contender in the WBC Lightweight rankings, Edwin De Los Santos. He even called him out recently.

Stevenson gets ready to take on another opponent
Shakur Stevenson understands he needs to get another fight in his weight class as soon as possible. He wants to grab the vacant WBC title anyhow. If not Martin, then he’ll go against the next best option. Currently, that option is none other than Edwin De Los Santos. And interestingly, not long ago De Los Santos had also called out Stevenson.
He said, “Remember that I am the danger, Shakur Stevenson. I can’t wait to get this guy in the ring.” So, after Stevenson announced the falling apart of the Martin fight on his Instagram, in the same lines, he wrote, “Edwin get ready, I’m tired of [you] saying my name.” Even, De Los Santos seems ready to “take all the smoke“.

So undoubtedly, Stevenson must be negotiating for his next fight, since Martin backed off after a week of done deal from the sides. But, hopefully, we’ll soon see ‘Sugar’ getting inside the ring to compete for his title shot. What are your thoughts about this? Tell us in the comments section below.
