The boxing world witnessed an exhibition match turn to a chaotic brawl on June 11. Floyd Mayweather, 46, made his walk to the ring against John Gotti III at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. As expected, the bout was one-sided— in favor of Mayweather. Gotti III had no answers to Mayweather’s speed and timing. Witnessing the same, the referee, Kenny Bayless, stopped the fight in the sixth round. However, Gotti III continued to throw punches despite the fight being called off by the referee.

Mayweather’s entourage and bodyguards become furious and had no second thoughts to jump inside the ring. Thereafter, Gotti III’s corner also jumped inside the ring to protect him. Eventually, a brawl was sparked between the two camps. The Florida State Athletic Commission (FSAC) suspended Gotti III for 6 months for his conduct. Meanwhile, Gotti III blames the commission for failing their due diligence to cause the brawl to happen.

Gotti III was on “The MMA Hour” show hosted by Ariel Helwani. He asked Gotti III about his suspension. Gotti III responded by stating that he is trying to get his suspension lifted. He also accused the commission of causing the brawl. He asserted that the commission did not meet the standard of security. In addition, he blamed the commission should have cleared people for his corner instead of the Mayweather team.

In the interview, he stated, “Don’t believe so. We are working on something now to lift that suspension. I don’t know honestly what is the role of the commission. They were for a photo op to be honest. They didn’t do their job one bit. You know they had one job to do they couldn’t even secure the ring before the fight.”

He adds, “The fight was delayed by 5 minutes because the people weren’t in their seats. There was no security, no cops there.”

It is safe to say that Gotti III is not pleased with the commission and neither is the commission. Despite not mingling on good terms, Gotti III attempts to lift the suspension and reflected upon the same in the interview.
