In a thrilling showdown, Seniesa Estrada managed to hold on to her WBC and WBA world women’s titles against Leonela Paola Yudica last night. Prior to the bout, Estrada shared her willingness to fight any woman in or around her weight class. She even shared her respect towards Yudica for taking the challenge. With this victory, she comes even closer to achieving her dream of becoming the undisputed champion at minimumweight.

Estrada has been the WBA champ ever since March 2021, moreover, she even added the WBC title earlier this year to her collection. Her fight against Miranda Adkins last year received a lot of outrage from fans because of how one-sided it was. The bout against the former IBF champ was pivotal for her to prove herself. And now she has successfully defended her titles although she did receive a bit of criticism from some fans who believe Yudica should’ve been given the decision.

Seniesa Estrada pulls off a victory against Yudica: here’s how the fight went

Estrada, the former flyweight champion, successfully defended her title against the Argentinian boxer. The fight took place at the Pearl Theatre in Las Vegas. ‘Super Bad’ displayed her prowess over ten thrilling rounds. The match witnessed some thrilling moments as both fighters showcased their skills. Initially, Yudica showed promise during the opening rounds of the matchup. However, Estrada’s shift to Southpaw at the final moment managed to turn the tide in her favor.

As the fight progressed Yudica’s counterattacks proved effective in the fourth round, giving her the edge. However, the champion regained control during the fifth round by pushing her opponent to the corner. The bout was so thrilling and intense that Estrada even received a bruise under her left eye. Furthermore, in the final round of the confrontation, Yudica showed off her skills as she skillfully alternated between stances. In the end, she won the matchup via unanimous decision.

Estrada’s extensive preparation pulls through

Using the combination of her height, reach advantage plus switching stances, Estrada managed to outbox Yudica. Speaking of her strategy for the bout, the champion claimed, “I knew coming into this fight that she was a boxer who would move away from me and not come forward much,” said Estrada. “In my preparation, I knew I had to show something different in myself.” Moreover, she stated that Yudica is a “natural flyweight” and is much bigger than her physically.

So the champion had to use her footwork, feints, and movements “to make sure I was close enough to land punches and not get countered”. As for her next opponent, she wants Yokasta Valle. She claimed that she wants to prove that she is the best in the division by defeating Valle. Estrada appeared full of confidence after her successful title defense.
