Back in 2019, Alvarez faced the Russian boxer Sergey Kovalev. He is not just any other professional boxer. He is the former WBA and IBF light-heavyweight champion. A clip containing snippets has been shared from his training camp in Uzbekistan. Unlike many of his counterparts, his training camp is located at the foothills of huge snow-clad mountains. Their exercises were quite intriguing, and they fascinated Devin Haney, who could not help but confess that he wanted to train with him. This revelation just goes to show that Devin Haney is constantly trying to improve and hone his skills. It is no wonder that the boxer is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Although his fight with Garcia fell apart, there might be another bout waiting for him if he were to go for it.
What is next for Haney?
According to Eddie Hearn, he wants Haney to fight Sandor Martin in the super lightweight division. The Spanish fighter boasts an impressive record of 42 victories, with only three defeats. Moreover, he has a style that may present problems for the champion. Eddie Hearn stated in an interview, “Yeah, that is mandatory that’s due. I mean, it’s not the flavor of the month that fight, and with no disrespect to Sandor, but, um, you know, at some point, he might have to deal with that maybe there’s a move to 147; we’ll have to see.”
