Gervonta Davis took care of Frank Martin effortlessly last Saturday night in Las Vegas and seems to have become the talk of the town. So much so that even UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley is talking about it in his podcast. However, the twist in the story is—the UFC headliner has underscored a rather unusual strategy to combat Davis’ rehydration clause if they fought. Notably, ‘Tank’ popularly used the rehydration clause to limit Ryan Garcia from gaining weight after their weigh-ins in their fight.

Some had speculated Garcia was left drained because of it and lost the fight against Davis. The ‘Suga’ show seems to have come up with a brilliant idea to combat that while claiming he would knock out Gervonta Davis. During his TSS podcast, the co-host and O’Malley discussed Davis’ fight against Martin when the co-host speculated at weight O’Malley would fight Davis while highlighting the rehydration clause against Garcia. In response, ‘Suga’ claimed, “They will probably put in the clause that I will have to be 5 ‘8 when I walk in there. At the weigh-ins, I am 5 ’11 but I gotta be 5’ 8 when I walk in there”.

How can someone reduce their height? Yes, it was a joke. O’Malley highlighted as much when he continued, “I thought that would get more chuckles. Tough crowd…” Regardless, a fight between them is completely possible, especially since they fight around the same weight, but of course, both parties will have come to an agreement. And if and when the fight does happen, O’Malley has stated, “I will knock Gervonta out”. Interestingly, this isn’t even the first time O’Malley has called out Gervonta Davis!

Coach Kenny Ellis claims Sean O’Malley can’t punch

After Davis defeated Ryan Garcia, Sean O’Malley said he could KO Davis in a boxing match. To this, coach Kenny Ellis said in an interview Davis would whoop O’Malley in the first round, adding MMA fighters haven’t perfected their punches like a boxer has. This seems to have irked O’Malley, who appeared in the TimboSugarShow in August 2023, sharing his thoughts. Mocking Ellis’ comment, ‘Suga’ said, “I got a decent right hand. I got a pretty good left hand”.

“Dude, I f****** rocked Petr [Yan] with a left hand, dropped Petr with my right hand, then dropped Aljo [Aljamain Sterling] with my right hand. So, I can throw a punch or two.” He later added that he has this feeling that a fight is definitely going to happen down the line. However, it’s been ten months, yet the fight hasn’t happened. Even though his height clause was a joke, Sean O’Malley might have come up with a new strategy to face Gervonta Davis if such a fight ever gets offered to him. Meanwhile, he has even considered a showdown with Ryan Garcia, but after the positive PED tests, that doesn’t seem possible.

What do you think about O’Malley’s height clause?
