‘Millcity Boxing’ seems to have pulled off something many thought possible but never believed would actually happen. Though not Devin Haney, his father, Bill Haney, sat down for a face-to-face chat. He faced, guess who, Ryan Garcia, at the opposite end of the line. Former world champion Zab Judah and the channel host moderated the talks. The two sides finally got a chance to sit for a tête-à-tête and pour their hearts out. So much has happened since the two young boxers fought. It was high time fans got a glimpse of what the stakeholders had in their minds.
The New York State Athletic Commission handed over a year-long suspension to Ryan Garcia following his failure to clear successive drug tests. The sentence comes alongside a slew of financial penalties as well. However, Devin Haney, over subsequent conversations, suggested Garcia perhaps deserved more than that. Hence, he even gave hints of following up with further legal action against his former opponent.

‘Happy Punch’ shared some of the key moments of the discussion through a three and a half-minute-long video. Though linear, it moves to the important segments that should be relevant to the fans and followers. The clip begins with Bill Haney checking with Ryan Garcia about when he took the supplements. He highlighted that ‘KingRy’ tested positive for the test on samples taken on the day of the fight as well as the day before.

“Exactly. Don’t you think it would still be in your system? Think with your brain; it would still be in your system no matter what, if it if it it’s not going next day,” came the reply. Bill Haney asked for a few details about the supplements. Garcia revealed that he wasn’t aware of them. So the latter wondered whether ‘KingRy’ had any knowledge about the sort of supplements the person who the young boxer called ‘Scooter’ gave.
Ryan Garcia said, “Those are what the lawyers have; whichever ones that they he provided me, he gave me two of the ones that he gave me. We sent that to a lab; they tested it, and it was tested with Ostarine in in its uh in its uh tablets, so my thing was tainted, which there’s no doubt in mind.”
But Bill Haney persisted. He wanted to know which company’s supplements he received. There was no change in the Californian’s answer—”I don’t know what it’s called. I just told you that I just told you right“. Haney Sr., then told him upfront that he had been lying.
Ryan Garcia continued, “Scooter is the one that gave me the supplements. I’m I’m gonna always stand by the truth. Scooter gave me the supplements.” Bill Haney checked whether the supplements that he received caused weight loss. Ryan Garcia replied in the negative. So the former then asked him, “So why so why did you say that everyone, um, you know, had contaminated that Victor Conte that Bill that me that everybody?”
“I’m very skeptical. I’m I’m still to this day. I’m skeptical a man that got Che, that that was banned from another sport, is helping you out um Devin Haney is in your son has gained has gained he can lose so much weight but then gained so much weight and then still fight for 12 rounds,” said Ryan Garcia. So Bill Haney shot back, whether it was ‘Scooter’ or Victor Conte who delivered the supplements to ‘KingRy’.
Is everything fair and square? ‘KingRy’ asks
In response, Garcia questioned why the authorities hadn’t turned his son’s records null and void. After all, he went beyond the prescribed weight limits. Bill Haney argued back that there are no such stipulations. ‘KingRy’ insisted that Devin Haney had been a ‘weight bully’ since their amateur days.

Ryan Garcia argued that commissions differed when it came to implementing rules. While some follow strict rules, a few turn a blind eye to some instances. Then he also cited past examples, such as those of Oscar Valdez, Shane Mosley, and Canelo Alvarez, who received lighter punishments. Whereas, in comparison, he received a 1-year ban.
He cited the amount of Ostarine observed in his system, which reportedly came to about one billionth of a gram. So Bill Haney said, “Hey, listen, if you have a pitch of her*in, is it in your system or not? There’s no other way there’s no other way that pitch could get in your system.”
Clearly, the whole discussion has created a commotion on social media. Fans from both sides of the fence joined in with their viewpoints.

In a way, many fans would treat the conversation as a step in the right direction. Instead of allowing issues to simmer, the camps have finally decided to come together and discuss all the issues openly. ‘Millcity Boxing’ probably deserves compliments for initiating such a move. But to many fans, it makes more sense if Garcia and Haney finally decide to move on after settling all their differences. Too much time has flown over the issue. Both young boxers have given hints of getting back for a rematch. That could be given a chance once Garcia’s suspension is over and Haney is also back with a fresh mind.
