Boxing is a challenging sport where fighters enter the squared circle knowing that it could hurt them severely, sometimes even paralyzing them for life. Iglesias’ recent knockout was one such incident that left the spectators in disbelief and worried about Shvedenko.

The fight took place at the Montreal Casino in Montreal, Canada. Iglesias was defending his IBO super middleweight title against the Russian boxer. Fans were expecting a thrilling showdown as both fighters have been a pleasure to watch in their previous fights. However, the 12-round bout did not even reach halfway there as Iglesias floored Shvedenko in the first round itself.

The fight was stopped at 2:48 after the Cuban delivered a vicious right hand that left Shvedenko lying down across the canvas. The Russian fighter was somewhat oblivious and lost consciousness. The punch had caused concussions to his head, causing him to go into convulsions. Following this, Iglesias started dancing to celebrate his victory, as his counterpart was floored on the ground struggling. The Cuban’s victory dance was not well received by fans.

Not a class act!

As soon as Iglesias dropped Shvedenko, even the commentator was in disbelief and said, “Oh my goodness. A horrifying reaction there from Evgeny Shvedenko. And we are gonna wait to qualify this before we are certain that Shvedenko is indeed okay. A scary scary sight here at the Montreal Casino.”

After seeing Shvedenko lying on the floor, one fan remembered UFC star Brendan Schaub’s knockout loss which eventually made him quit fighting. He wrote, “Reminds me of Schaub getting Kod by Browne. Looking like a lost bear cub looking for their mama”

Iglesias first danced after flooring Shvedenko. He then walked towards the rope and danced again while facing the crowd. One boxing fan was disappointed to see Iglesias’ celebration and felt that this did not show sportsmanship. He stated, “Have some sportsmanship man!!!!!!”.

The referee immediately sought a doctor to examine Shvedenko after stopping the fight. The fighter was moving his arms and legs in perplexity and appeared frightened. One boxing fan believes that he was trying to get up and fight, and that’s why he was moving his arms and legs, “Damn, that was him trying to get up thinking he could. Scary shit!”

Another angry fan was extremely upset to see the Cuban fighter’s victory dance and wrote, “and he’s dancing over that? disgusting…”

Although sportsmen celebrate their victories, some moments are meant to be spared. One boxing enthusiast asserted, “Congrats on getting the win, but that’s not how you act after, have class.”
