Did the Tyson vs. Paul fight entertain or embarrass boxing fans? What's your take on the spectacle?

Over the past few days, the controversial fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has become the latest target for mockery amongst TV show hosts. Jimmy Kimmel made fun of the fight alongside Denzel Washington on his chat show. Jimmy Fallon on the other hand, had a whole monologue prepared to mock the fight in his special Sunday episode.

Now, Scarlett Johansson’s husband, Colin Jost, roasted the match on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live. SNL has been one of the longest-running TV shows in American TV history. The show took a summer hiatus before returning for its 50th season in September earlier this year. During the Weekend Update segment of their latest episode, Jost, who is one of the two hosts of the segment, hilariously took a dig at the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight.

Colin Jost alongside his partner Michael Che stated, “Last night, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul teamed up to defeat everyone watching,” as the crowd erupted with laughter. The 42-year-old perfectly summed up the sentiments of the fans in just one single line. The fight was so lackluster that 72,000 fans filled the entire AT&T arena with boos making their disappointment known to both of the fighters. However, the fight continued till the last minute as Jake Paul earned a victory via a unanimous decision.

Despite the disappointing result, Netflix reported that over 65 million households tuned in to watch the fight live, making it one of the biggest boxing fights ever. However, the numbers could have been far better had the stream not been bombarded by buffering issues and hangups.

Anyhow, the historic numbers of the fight won’t change the fact that the bout was disappointing. Fans and experts have been constantly trolling the fight for the past few days and the late night hosts are leading that trend.

On Sunday, NBC premiered a special post-NFL game episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” where he had a whole monologue dedicated to the fight. Firstly he called the fight similar to the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Los Angeles Chargers game, “except these guys actually hit each other.” Fallon then mocked Jake Paul’s habit of choosing an older opponent stating that the next challenger for The Problem Child will probably be the cast of “60 Minutes.”

The 50-year-old TV host then had a whole skit prepared to mock the streaming issues of Netflix. He pretended to be on a video call with a Netflix executive where both of their streams kept getting lagged.

A few days later, Jimmy Kimmel welcomed Hollywood legend Denzel Washington on his show and asked him about the fight. He stated, “Would you consider what happened this weekend to be boxing?” Though Washington, a boxing fan, chose to remain diplomatic and refrained from outright criticism, his body language spoke volumes about his disappointment. However, his demeanor was enough to tell that he was also disappointed by the fight.

Kimmel also referenced Tyson’s admission that he would probably smoke m*****a before the fight, jokingly saying that he would possibly even do “m*****oms before the fight. He actually said that. Did you sense any of that in the ring?” Thankfully, the Hollywood actor denied the notion that Mike actually would do it.
