In 2007, when Ricky Hatton entered the ring to the sound of his favorite ‘Blue Moon,’ many in the audience at the MGM Grand Arena felt out of place amidst a boisterous and excited Mancunian crowd. Such was the crowd-pulling power ‘The Hitman’ wielded in his prime. The two losses to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao convinced him to pull the shutter on an otherwise glittering career. Now a promoter and trainer, the boxing great points out the pride in carrying a father’s worry. After all, his son Campbell took over the boxing mantle from him.
Campbell Hatton couldn’t have dreamt of a better pedigree. With his father and uncle enjoying well-earned sports reputations, the twenty-two-year-old Lancashire-born turned professional on March 27, 2021. Since his debut, the young boxer has impressed many, watching out for the Hatton surname, winning eleven bouts in two years without reversals. His latest victory was a notable first-round knockout win over Louis Fielding on April 1 in London’s O2 Arena.
