World Boxing Organization is working to settle a heavyweight clash between former competitors Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce, paving the way for them to meet the winner of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua in the future.
However, Usyk is still new to the weight class and Joe Joyce has been a heavyweight throughout his career. So, many have posed their favor for the ‘Juggernaut’. But Usyk has defeated Joe Joyce in the past and Joyce’s manager, Sam Jones, envisions the same if the heavyweight boxers clash in a five-round fight now. Speaking with Behind The Gloves, Jones revealed how the fight result can change under different circumstances.
“If Usyk box Joe in a five-round fight now, Usyk would probably win. This is a 12-round fight with 10-ounce gloves, it’s a totally different fight and Joyce got a lot better since that fight and I know Usyk has gone on to do great things like I don’t want to sit here and say,” said Sam Jones.

Although Usyk has spent most of his boxing career at the cruiserweight class, Jones didn’t hesitate to give him a fair shot at the heavyweight elites.
Hailing the Ukrainian great, he added, “I don’t know maybe Evander Holyfield aside, Usyk is the greatest cruiserweight of all time. Him, David Haye, Evander Holyfield are my top three best cruiserweights of all time.”
Usyk and Joyce collided at the World Series of Boxing in 2013, before turning professional. While Usyk won the fight, Joyce can avenge the loss after almost eight years. It further intensifies the tale as the WBO Interim heavyweight title will be at stake.
