Jake Paul is in for a long night if Mike Tyson can do what he did to Corey Sanders! The legendary former undisputed heavyweight champion ‘Iron’ Mike is supposed to enter the ring against ‘The Problem Child’ on July 20 at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas. Meanwhile, an old clip of Tyson’s exhibition fight from October 2006 has left the internet in a frenzy.

Right after his retirement in 2005, having suffered a loss against Kevin McBride, ‘Iron’ Mike appeared in a four round exhibition fight against former professional boxer ‘T-Rex’ Sanders in Youngstown, Ohio. Throughout the fight, Tyson had dropped Sanders, who was wearing a headgear, several times, but one shot that would have scored another knockdown caught people’s attention when Boxing Kingdom shared the clip on X.

Yesterday, Boxing Kingdom shared the clip in question, stating, “Exclusive Video footage of Mike Tyson hurting an opponent with headgear on during an exhibition fight and helping him back to his feet.” Meanwhile, even the clip shows Tyson hurting Sanders with an overhand right in the opening round, as Sanders started stumbling.

However, Mike Tyson quickly held him, as what looked like Tyson helping his opponent stay on his feet. Tyson would go on to win the exhibition, especially since he dominated his taller and bulkier opponent all throughout the fight. Interestingly, Sanders was Tyson’s former sparring partner, and the fight was a part of a series of exhibition bouts that were organized to help the former champion pay off his financial debts. 

Yet, when the fans discovered the clip circulating ahead of the clash against Jake Paul, speculation ran rampant about Paul’s fate once they stepped foot into the ring.

Fan thinks Tyson’s shot on Sanders wasn’t his full power

With all the excitement in the air, it didn’t take long for the clip to gain widespread attention. One user expressed their sadness about the Paul fight, suggesting Jake Paul is likely to drop Tyson during the fight. Since the announcement, many fans and pundits have raised concerns about the sheer age gap (31 years) between the boxers. Yet, Tyson has maintained he will beat Jake Paul come fight night. 

Another user pointed out that they too would have been knocked down by Tyson’s shot to the head. However, they expressed concern about the fight proceeding, especially in light of Tyson’s recent health scare. Tyson experienced a medical emergency during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday due to an ulcer flare-up just 30 minutes before landing. Fortunately, Tyson’s team has reassured everyone that he is now doing fine.

Someone else suggested Tyson was pulling his punches, including the shot that nearly dropped Sanders, claiming it’s not even Tyson’s full power. In fact, when the fight happened, ticket buyers criticized the lethargic nature of the fight. 

The next user’s confidence in Mike Tyson seems to have rekindled after watching the clip, as the user explained Tyson will definitely knockout Jake Paul. However, Paul, despite his short run in the sport, is not a boxer to scoff at. Per several experts, he has all the tools needed to send Tyson crashing onto the canvas. 

One user playfully asserted that Sanders is a paid actor from Paul’s team. Besides Paul being 9 when the fight happened, ‘T-Rex,’ as previously mentioned, was Tyson’s former sparring partner.
