Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya have been close ever since the young boxer signed with ‘Golden Boy Promotions’ back in 2016. Since then, Garcia’s career went nowhere but up, with victory after victory, ‘KingRY’ managed to make a big name for himself. ‘The Golden Boy’ appeared to have his back as he kept his eye on the top throne. However, his recent bout against Gervonta Davis changed a lot. Not only Garcia lost his undefeated status, but that was only the prologue to the monumental changes that came after.

Dissatisfied with being left alone at the post-fight conference, Ryan Garcia soon parted ways with his trainer Joe Goossen and joined hands with Derrick James. Furthermore, he recently had a nasty back-and-forth with Oscar De La Hoya. Garcia, in an interview with Bradley Martyn, talked about how he felt during the post-fight press conference. Oscar De La Hoya replied to the text and asked Garcia to “man up” and own his loss.

The back and forth seemed never-ending, however, De La Hoya ended it and asked Garcia to sit down with him and promised him another “Huge payday”. However, it seems that the strain in their relationship has now become irredeemable. In a shocking turn of events, Garcia has found himself sued by ‘Golden Boy Promotions’.

In reply to the lawsuit, Garcia’s attorney Bo Pearl said, “Golden Boy is obligated to promote and enhance Ryan Garcia, not malign him on Twitter and file a public, baseless lawsuit against him”. He pointed out the irony that in suing Garcia, the promotions have already breached the contract they are hoping to enforce on Garcia. What do you think about the lawsuit?
