WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis faced an opponent shorter than him against Isaac Cruz in a really long time. However, that didn’t turn it into an easy battle for ‘Tank’. Cruz is the second fighter after German Ivan Meraz to go to the distance with Davis. Although he entered seemingly as an underdog, the Mexican fighter departed with his head high.

He offered his best version and cracked Gervonta Davis on certain occasions. But ‘Tank’ proved to be the better man and retained his WBA lightweight strap in style. After the full-length war, Davis scored a comfortable win via unanimous decision. Two judges scored it 115-113, and one of them scored 116-112 all in favor of Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. It was clearly a massive win for ‘Tank’, who returned to 135 lbs after a successful stint at 140 in June.
