Valencia revealed that the pair are likely to meet either on April 24 or May 1 rather than the initial suggestions of September 1. This is probably because both fighters will want to make the other fights happen at the end of the year.

The advisor also gave an update on the other details of the potential fight. The announcement shocked fans as Garcia is a lightweight mandatory while Pacquiao is a welterweight champion. Hence many were curious to know how the fight would unfold.

Though an exhibition fight would make sense given the difference in weight, it would not be ideal for either fighters’ career. ‘Pac-Man’ is in the twilight of his career and only has a few fights left in him, while Garcia has other fights he needs to make.
However, it is difficult to see either Pacquiao coming down to lightweight or Garcia moving up to welterweight in 3 months.
