Finally, the day has come. Ryan Garcia‘s year-long suspension, triggered after testing positive for the banned substance Ostarine after his Devin Haney bout, is now officially lifted. It has indeed been a turbulent year for the Victorville native, and now he can look forward to his match against Rolly Romero on the Fatal Fury card on May 2nd.

However, this freedom didn’t come without a price. Reportedly, Ryan Garcia had to forfeit $1.2 million of his purse amount and pay a $10,000 fine as part of his settlement with NYSAC. Furthermore, he also had to actively pass a drug test to secure his reinstatement. Finally, with all hurdles behind him, the 26-year-old expressed his relief on social media, ready to move forward.

On April 20, 2025, Ryan Garcia celebrated his reinstatement by posting on X: “Wow my suspension officially is lifted on Easter super cool.” Garcia, a devout Christian, considers Easter an auspicious day. According to his belief, on this day, Jesus rose from the dead. For him, having his suspension lifted on this day feels like a divine sign.

He further added, “All glory to Jesus ✝️,” showing his faith and how he remained steadfast during all the struggles. Beyond financial setbacks, Garcia faced mental struggles, which he openly addressed. A few days ago, he took to his ‘X’ and wrote, “People real mad I made the mental comeback, I’m really a dog tho. My hands are crazy in a real way,” indicating to everyone that he is back to his best.

Though reinstated, Garcia still has to worry about the lawsuit that Devin Haney filed against him. However, there is a glimmer of hope, as The Dream recently laid down an ultimatum for the Victorville native.

Haney and Garcia have been at odds with each other since their fight last year. Despite being the favorite, The Dream lost brutally against the Victorville native. The sting of loss deepened when Garcia tested positive for a banned substance, prompting Haney to file a lawsuit, unsatisfied even by Garcia’s year-long suspension.

The pair will now fight on the same card against Jose Ramirez and Rolly Romero. Furthermore, a victory in their respective fights will set up a rematch later in October. If all goes according to plan, Haney might even drop the lawsuit.

In a recent conversation with Naji Chill, the California native was initially tight-lipped about the lawsuit. However, he later revealed, “I’m not going to say too much on it. My team did that.” However, with the rematch on the way, Haney believes that everything is sorted. “But at the end of the day, we get the rematch in October, and so everything worked out,” he stated.

Haney laid down a clear ultimatum and stated, “We do a fight, then it won’t be no lawsuit. We’ll drop the lawsuit.” So, for Garcia, a win against Romero could resolve his legal troubles—a tough but attainable goal.
