Ryan Garcia might be traversing through a range of issues. However, it must be said that the young Californian stays as active as ever on social media. His posts on X continue, unabated. So much so, his latest tweet finds him championing the cause of a Hollywood actor, whose interest in boxing appears to have become a talking point across the online platform.
Former NFL defensive end and now well-known actor and host, Terry Crews recently suggested a boxing match with UFC legend Anderson Silva. Though it’s a different matter, several reports suggest that the ‘Spider’ who initially bought the idea seems to have undergone a change of mind. However, the excitement in Garcia seems to know no bounds; in fact, he would rather the match between the two turn up even before GTA 6’s release.

It may sound a bit confusing. But a chain of events shows that, through an Instagram post, Terry Crews had called out Anderson Silva.
“Alright, Anderson Silva, I’ve been training. I’m ready, June 15. I’ll see you at fight night in Brazil, y’all. June 15, let’s go. Anderson Silva, me, you. Let’s make it happen. What? Terry Crews here. Brazil,” said ‘The Longest Yard’ actor. He received a response from the former UFC middleweight champion, “See you June 15.”
However, soon an update from the ‘Spider’ followed. He spoke in his native Brazilian Portuguese. It roughly translates as follows: “So look, everyone was expecting the fight to be me and Terry Crews. But it won’t be with Terry. Terry is a great friend—my great, great friend that I have. A guy that I love very much, that I have great affection for. But it won’t be with Terry.” However, Silva clarified that he would soon reveal the name of his potential opponent: “But today at Fantastico, tonight at Fantastico, you will be able to find out who my opponent is. So in a little while at Fantastico, you will be able to have access to who will be my real opponent.”
🚨 UPDATE | Anderson Silva says he will NOT be fighting Terry Crews.
He will instead be announcing his opponent later this evening for what will be the final fight of his career.

Now, as reports suggest, it could be Chael Sonnen‘s turn to stand opposite Anderson Silva on June 15. The ‘Spider’ has comparatively better boxing experience. He lost the battle to Jake Paul two years ago. However, his biggest boxing triumph came when he defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 19, 2021. Per the available reports, the June 15 fight could be a retirement fight.

It is interesting to see how so many present and former mixed martial arts fighters have been taking up boxing of late. On June 1 at Los Angeles’ KIA Forum, Jorge Masvidal will be taking on Nate Diaz for a ten-round light heavyweight bout. It would be hard to forget that one of the loudest call-outs Ryan Garcia has been receiving is from reigning UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley!

A month ago, Ryan Garcia shocked the world, inflicting a crushing defeat on Devin Haney. But days later, the situation changed as he found himself in a quagmire of controversy. He reportedly failed to clear drug tests based on the samples taken the day before and on the day of the fight. The former interim lightweight champion, who has all along insisted on his innocence, subsequently placed a request for his B samples to be tested. Per available accounts, details should be available by May 22.
