Boxing icon Ryan Garcia has been mired in controversies for the past few months. Firstly, he fought Devin Haney on April 20th. He won the bout, but he tested positive for a banned performance-enhancing drug, Ostarine. The only respite for him was the results of his B sample, which unfortunately also came back positive last month. Although the matter is still under investigation, he has not been proven guilty yet. Not long after, in a tragic development, the boxer’s mother Lisa Garcia was diagnosed with breast cancer.

As if that wasn’t enough, the boxer was recently arrested in a Beverly Hills Hotel for ‘felony vandalism’ of property costing $15,000. In a statement after Ryan Garcia’s arrest, the boxer revealed, “Ya’ll know I’ve been dealing with incredible stress, pressure and now the devastating news of my mom’s health.” Just a few hours after Garcia’s arrest, his mother shared a video on Instagram talking about men’s mental health.

The 25-year-old boxer has been going through a lot. Even after he disclosed to his Instagram fans about his mother’s health, there have been some people who assume that his mother’s news is just one of his antics on social media. In response to that, he wrote, “I hate all of you, whatever you f**king come up with against me Concerning my MOTHER… there will be a place in hell for you.”

In a heartfelt message during Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month of June, Ryan Garcia’s mom, Lisa Garcia, took the opportunity to share the above video on her Instagram story (since expired) that hit hard. The video shone a light on the devastating reality of suicide, with 1.6 million attempted suicides each year and a staggering 525,000 deaths. It’s a stark reminder of the silent struggle many men face and the tragic consequences it can have.

News of his mother’s health issue left Ryan Garcia understandably devastated. He expressed his deep concern by stating at the time, “If my mom dies I’m going with her.” Amidst all this chaos, fans also assumed that Garcia was not in his senses due to the plethora of problems in his life currently. And his recent arrest has solidified the notion.

Garcia’s actions and the type of property damage, however, remain undisclosed. After that, he was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for problems relating to intoxication. According to a statement from his attorney, the boxer is going through a difficult time as he processes the news regarding his mother’s condition. His attorney went on to say that Garcia has always been honest about his struggles with mental health and that he simply needs his supporters to get him through this difficult time.
