Selena Gomez: An 'American Princess' for making dreams come true—do you agree with Ryan Garcia's mom?

Renowned singer and actress Selena Gomez was humbled by a high school volleyball team’s request. But, who knew she would follow through? A handwritten sign from the Telluride High School volleyball team’s coach addressing Gomez didn’t go unnoticed. “Selena Gomez, please sing the National Anthem @ one of [our] home games: Fri 6:00 pm; Sat 1:00,” the poster read. Lo and behold, Gomez, who was in Colorado for the 2024 Telluride Film Festival, where she is promoting the musical crime film “Emilia Pérez”, dropped by to watch their home game.

Pulling up at the game wearing a black blazer, black top, and blue jeans, she was immediately surrounded by a group of giddy teenagers who were ecstatic to see the ‘Love You Like a Love Song’ singer. Gomez was quite gracious as she greeted the Telluride players as well as their opponents from Dove Creek High School. She happily signed autographs, sharing a video of herself talking with the students on the sidelines of the volleyball court.

Furthermore, Gomez even shared the moments she spent with both volleyball teams in Colorado on her Instagram. The famous singer posted a carousel of pictures with the caption, “Couldn’t help it, it’s my first time in Telluride!” Reacting to the wholesome moment between the high school students and Selena Gomez, even Ryan Garcia‘s mother Lisa Garcia took to her Instagram story to share her appreciation for Gomez’s kind gesture. “American princess @Selena Gomez. She has a big [heart emoji],” she wrote while sharing an image from Gomez’s post.

Have an interesting take?

Not too long ago, Lisa Garcia also tried to raise awareness about the dangers of alcoholism via her Instagram stories, Sharing a short clip of former NFL athlete and lead pastor of Doxa Church, Eddie Williams, explaining to people about the pitfalls of alcohol addiction, she wrote, “Alcohol is poison to the body mind and spirit when done abusively.” Since she is someone who knows the pitfalls of alcohol addiction, because of Ryan Garcia’s dependency on it, it is clear why the message from Eddie Williams resonated with her.

“Some of you respectfully, need to stop drinking altogether. You need to quit alcohol… It is not funny anymore and it is killing you,” Williams lamented in the clip. Williams stressed the importance of staying away from addictive substances in order to have a “clear mind”.
