It’s a contest of skills vs. power. Ryan Garcia is honing his weapons to come on top with his archrival Devin Haney on April 20. With less than 18 days until the showdown, the fans get a snippet of what they can expect on the fateful day. The challenger is gearing up for the fight and breaking a sweat in the training. However, it seems it might not be enough to pull off a victory, if fans’ eyes are to believe.
‘KingRy’ has evoked concerns among fans but not confidence since the announcement of his fight. As he resorted to social media shenanigans to gain psychological ground, his actions mandate scrutiny. The same goes for his latest sparring clip, which became a hotly debated topic among boxing fans. It’s not the first time the fans have heavily analyzed his training clips and caused a riot in the comments.

Garcia, 25, is sharpening his tools in Dallas under the tutelage of Derrick James. While he has shown his staple quick hand movements and continues to rely on those, he is also working on his right hand. The fans admired those clips as they believed the American boxer wouldn’t rely solely on his left hook to produce a result.

Meanwhile, Garcia’s other clips, such as him throwing punches in a slow-mo, didn’t sit well with the fans. Similarly, in the latest clip, the fans could witness the Victorville native sparring with a relatively lighter opponent. He caught his sparring partner with a left jab, left hook, and right jab combination. However, the punches didn’t appear to be heavy. Despite that, his sparring partner tumbled back onto the canvas and raised some eyebrows.
The fans blast ‘KingRy’ for a staged clip
One fan called it the most boring knockdown and questioned the credentials of the clip. They wrote, “Might be the most boring knockdown I’ve seen in my life why does that look intentional?”

It remains to be seen which game plan Garcia would deploy against a more technically gifted Haney and whether he will show us something new, similar to when he brought a Floyd Mayweather-esque shoulder roll in his last fight against Oscar Duarte.
