In the last few weeks, the animosity between Lamar and Drake has landed on everyone’s playlists. The former has now released four verbose diss tracks, totaling 20 minutes together, with three of them on their way to the Billboard charts after already outperforming Drake’s diss tracks on Apple Music and Spotify.

It seems like ‘KingRy’ has watched this spectacle closely and has decided the winner of their back-and-forth. When the 25-year-old fighter was asked to pick sides between them on his recent appearance at Fresh and Fit’s After Hours podcast, he sided with his fellow Californian. He declared, “Kendrick already won. There’s no beef.”

Garcia picking Lamar over Drake is not unusual. It is not just him who thinks that Lamar completely ate his counterpart in this ongoing fiasco. Here are a few reasons why it looks like Drake has all but lost the beef.

Drake Lost, But How?

In the rap beef and the battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, the former has been wiser. He was strategic, planned, and highly counteractive. Drake was unfocused. He engaged multiple opponents instead of concentrating on Kendrick, his primary challenger. These likely include Future, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, and the Weeknd, as they are listed as part of Kendrick’s “merry coalition of haters.” This led to a lack of clarity and efficiency in his insults.

Secondly, Drake’s inflexibility was evident in his reliance on “Family Matters” as his main attack. Kendrick, versatile in his rebukes, quickly overshadowed with “Meet the Grahams.” Drake failed to adapt to Kendrick’s swift counterattack, taking the loss evidently.

Thirdly, Drake’s credibility was undermined by his history of dishonesty in previous beefs. It made his unverified allegations against Kendrick less impactful. He also misunderstood the nature of the conflict. He was trying to disgrace Kendrick with uncharacteristic revelations while Kendrick used more credible, characteristic attacks against Drake. He backed his allegations of Drake being a creep and his attempts at cultural appropriation.

Lastly, Drake misjudged Kendrick’s strategy. He believed Kendrick’s accusations about a secret daughter were a misstep when they were actually part of Kendrick’s broader plan to humiliate Drake on a larger scale.

Overall, Kendrick’s ability to capitalize on Drake’s mistakes, maintain credibility, and execute a more creative, effective, and focused strategy led to his victory in the beef. Even Ryan Garcia was perhaps enticed by these elements.
