Last month, Ryan Garcia enjoyed the fame he received after defeating Devin Haney through a major upset. However, as days passed, his win was marred in controversy, and all of his hard work was questioned. His VADA reports came back positive. While he maintained his innocence, he has now explained what could have potentially led to the unusual results.

On May 1, boxing reporter, Dan Rafael reported that ‘KingRy’ tested positive for Ostarine, a PED that was banned by VADA, traces of which were found in samples collected from him on 19 April as well as in the hours after the fight. In response, the fighter argued that he hardly ever uses supplements, let alone steroids. Now, as he continues to fight these allegations, here is an update on the fiasco provided by him.

The only two ways…

In a conversation that happened on his X’s Live Spaces, the Victorville native was asked the potential reasons why his tests could have come out positive. As he maintained his innocence, he relayed two potential reasons that could have led to the controversial test results.

He explained, “I think there are two options. I took up tainted supplements that had traces of ostrogen (Ostarine) or whatever the f**k that is. Or they (VADA) are really fucking with me and they have this up their sleeve. You know, in case Devin Haney lost. It’s just so weird that Victor Conte is so close to VADA. It’s just bro, it’s bullsh*t.”

Victor Conte is someone who had trained Devin Haney for about 8 years early in his career and is known to have been instrumental in the formation of the VADA. It is because of this closeness that Ryan Garcia is alleging foul play and a conspiracy regarding the results of his positive tests.

Thus, when the reports emerged, Ryan Garcia demanded justice. He sought the results of the B-Samples to be conducted in the presence of someone from their side.

Is Ryan Garcia innocent?

Per the norm, the B-samples from Garcia haven’t been tested yet. Usually, these results only confirm the results of the A-sample. His attorney, Darin Chavez, has told ESPN that the B-samples will be opened and analyzed on May 22. Chavez will personally be present to witness the examination.

It was earlier believed that the fighter’s reports also had traces of 19-Norandrosterone. However, a May 7 report that screened for the exact metabolism came back negative. The attorney took the opportunity to size some allegations against the VADA. He noted in a statement to ESPN, “We are dealing only with a known supplement contaminant in the billionth of a gram range that provided Ryan Garcia with no performance-enhancing benefit whatsoever on fight night. We now wait for B-sample testing on the presence of low-level Ostarine only on May 22.”

On X, in the wake of these results, Garcia wrote, “So yall realize I didn’t fail the tests now…No substance other then this imaginary ostrich substance…Level so low wouldn’t have any effect…THEY TRIED BUT NO LIE STANDS…PRAISE GOD.” Now, it remains to be seen if his B samples also return the same results as his A samples. If that is what happens, Ryan Garcia is in a lot of trouble.
