Ryan Garcia finally has a big fight in hand. He will meet archrival Devin Haney on April 20 in Las Vegas. With barely two months left, the Californian must be following a hectic training schedule. However, that doesn’t mean downtime cannot be had. He seems to be utilizing the breaks to provide even boxing lessons, as fresh footage shows.
Garcia makes it a point to share training footage frequently with fans. In the latest one, rather, he switched roles, training a novice whose personal life, not long ago, made it to the news. But then for ‘KingRy’ too, the fight with Haney comes on the back of both personal and professional challenges. At home, on one hand, he celebrated the birth of his son, Henry Leo. But on the other hand, the news of his separation from his wife, Andrea Celina, also made headlines.

Even in the ring, things weren’t any better for Ryan Garcia. One after the other, talks with potential opponents, including Haney, fell short. The situation started looking up only by the end of January. Haney-fight was finally back on track. Through its Instagram handle, @overtimeboxing shared a photo and clip of Ryan Garcia training podcaster and influencer Bobbi Althoff.

The picture shows the light-welterweight boxer holding boxing pads on both hands. Then the video shows him instructing Althoff. The podcaster accordingly throws the one-two combo. It seemingly impressed Garcia, who said, “Good.”
Bobbi Althoff, who achieved widespread fame for interviewing legend Drake, initiated divorce proceedings this month. Reportedly, the separation would be finalized by July of this year. She and her estranged husband are parents to two daughters.
After the terrible loss to Gervonta Davis (now Abdul Wahid) last April, Ryan Garcia made a statement comeback on December 2. He knocked out Oscar Duarte and announced that he was ready for big fights. Soon, he homed in on one.
From a roller-coaster to a real fight
Both Devin Haney and ‘KingRy’ know each other from their amateur days. So the chances of a much-vaunted professional clash became high as talks proceeded. Till December ended, everything seemed fine. But come January, Garcia announced that instead of Haney, he would be fighting Rolando Romero. It must have surely shocked many fans who badly wanted to see him fight Haney. However, to some, a line-up with ‘Rollie’ wasn’t that bad either.

Only if things had stopped there. Soon after came the bombshell that the Romero fight wouldn’t be happening either. Jose Ramirez became the third person whose name cropped up. But Garcia turned it down.
Later, fans saw him calling out Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz as well. But the Mexican boxer instead signed a deal to fight Rolando Romero. Thankfully, the dust seems to have settled down. Fans can look forward to a riveting showdown in April. Time will tell whether Ryan Garcia finally succeeds in winning a world title.
