The talks of a shocking matchup have been re-ignited. In 2022, young Ryan Garcia was speculated to square off against boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao. This revelation stunned everyone in the boxing world at the time. However, the fight fell through and eventually did not take place. According to Garcia, he had one specific individual to blame. In an interview, he stated, “It fell through because the guy that wanted to fund it was just a lunatic.”

It became evident that this fantasy matchup was not on the cards anymore. Garcia went on to fight other contenders to improve his ranking. In his recent bout, the boxer got handed his first-ever defeat by Gervonta Davis. Although the loss was brutal, Garcia is still a young prospect and undoubtedly a famous one. There are still plenty of bouts waiting for him. Recently, his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya stated that he should face Pacquiao in the near future. However, Garcia is not a fan of that matchup and made that evident publicly.

It is common for a fighter to have disagreements with his promoter. However, it is uncommon for it to take place publicly. There seems to be a tussle between Garcia and De La Hoya on social media after De La Hoya expressed his desire to see Garcia take on Pacquiao next.

Michael Benson, the boxing journalist, on Twitter, reported the comments made by him. He stated, “Manny vs Ryan, you know how huge that would be? I’m gonna pursue that and we’ll see what the best option is for Ryan.”

Garcia was evidently upset with the statement made by him. He responded by stating, “This isn’t happening!! I said what I wanted… It’s frustrating.. tired of this”

Not to mention, a couple of days ago, Garcia revealed 3 opponents who he wanted to fight against and Pacquiao was not one of them.

He took to Twitter to exclaim, 3 people I want to fight next Rollies *they just ordered for him to fight someone’s else Isaac Cruz *if he’s willing to go to 140 Teofimo López *depending on outcome”
