Michael Benson posted a screenshot of Garcia’s story, where Garcia was talking about the contract signing for his anticipated fight against Davis. And it was quite disappointing for every boxing fan that the contract hasn’t been signed yet.
The conversation between the fighters regarding the contract started at the beginning of January, and De La Hoya claimed that the contract would be signed just after some minor changes in it. But even now, there is no news yet regarding the contract signing. The fans are now getting restless as the expected date for Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia is edging closer.
But the post is not all bad, as Ryan Garcia hasn’t said that the fight wouldn’t be happening, his story is rather hopeful. He even claimed that he would not be posting anything until the contract is done and signed with Gervonta Davis. And he also wrote, “I’ve put my heart into this for you guys, the fans, the boxing fans, and everyone. I’m bringing boxing back. The way it’s supposed to be.”

De La Hoya still wants the fight to happen in April
This fight has seen a lot of ups and downs, as in November it was first announced that the fight would be taking place. But then on January 15, Oscar De La Hoya said that he hasn’t received any contract and he’d not be waiting for more than 24 hours.
And even when the contract was received, Golden Boy Promotions still believed that it will be needing some minor changes. And now from Golden Boy’s Instagram story, it’s confirmed that it has not been done yet. But De La Hoya is adamant that the fight will be happening on April 15.

De La Hoya knows very well that this fight is arguably going to be the ‘biggest fight of the year’, and it will sell a lot of tickets. So it is understandable that they are trying to get an ideal contract for such a fight. But let’s hope it doesn’t affect the performance of the fighters or the tentative date of the fight.
