After Devin Haney defeated Regis Prograis to win the WBC Super-Lightweight title, Ryan Garcia called out ‘The Dream’. However, Floyd Mayweather advised the 25-year-old to face Rolly Romero first. At this, although Garcia appreciated Mayweather’s thoughts, with Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins‘ support, ‘KingRy’ went ahead to officialize the Haney fight since Romero moved on with Isaac Cruz.

Now, ahead of the fight against Haney on April 20th, Garcia accused FightHype and Floyd Mayweather of trying to sabotage ‘KingRy’ vs. ‘The Dream’. Well, here is what Garcia said during his latest conversation with Ben Thompson.

Lately, Michael Benson tweeted, “What’s a harsh boxing truth that people don’t agree on?” In his reply to Benson, Ben Thompson from FightHype wrote, “Ryan Garcia is mentally injured and his fight with Devin Haney MUST be postponed!” As expected, this reply of Thompson’s has upset ‘KingRy’. Likewise, when Garcia spoke to Thompson, he claimed the latter was trying to cancel Haney vs. Garcia as per Floyd Mayweather’s instructions.

My whole thing is how you said that this fight needs to be stopped. It needs to be cancelled. I know that you’re working for Floyd. And Floyd probably told you to try to make my s**t go down,” Ryan Garcia told Ben Thompson.

But, I need you to know that this fight is going on. Nobody can stop it. Nor FightHype nor Floyd Mayweather. Nobody’s going to stop this fight because I’m perfectly fine. And I’ve been training very hard. And you know I love you, Ben,” added ‘KingRy’.

In this connection, it is worth exploring the advice Mayweather had earlier given to Garcia.

Mayweather wanted ‘KingRy’ to capture Rolly’s belt

For a brief period of time, Ryan Garcia developed a relationship with Floyd Mayweather. In fact, he even trained with ‘TBE’. Following Mayweather’s influence, Garcia also attempted the shoulder roll against Oscar Duarte. Later, the 25-year-old declared that he would ask Mayweather to help him improve the move. Anyway, when Garcia eyed Haney’s Super-Lightweight belt, Mayweather disapproved of the idea.

He’s like, ‘Why would you do that? Why don’t you fight Rolly for the belt and then fight Haney?‘” Garcia had told FightHype. “I said, ‘That makes sense, but I told the people already I’m gonna fight Devin,” Garcia had added.
