Boxing legend Mike Tyson, at the age of 57, has decided to make a comeback into the ring. This time, it’s for an exhibition match against social media star turned boxer Jake Paul. Interestingly, he’ll be 58 years old by the time he’ll enter the ring against Paul. This July 20th showdown, streamed live on Netflix will be a new era into live sports-adjacent programming for the streaming giant.
The fight, held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be Tyson’s first since a draw against fellow boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. This bout presents Netflix with a strategic opportunity. The predictions have already started to pour in with even Ryan Garcia declaring the reason behind his choice to the rest of the world.

In a conversation on Clubhouse, Ryan Garcia was talking about his plans. Amidst that, somebody asked Garcia his thoughts on the upcoming contest between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. Expectedly, Garcia chose his friend and supporter Mike Tyson, with whom he’s done a couple of podcast episodes, and has maintained a good relationship. He talked about how huge ‘Iron’ Mike is.
Garcia mentioned, “I met Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson is huge bro, there’s no way Jake Paul is taking this bro.” Then a guy named Wayne intervened and stated that he also didn’t believe Paul could knock him out, but still, he supported ‘The Problem Child’ via a split-decision victory. Garcia stated, “Wayne, I want to see your live reaction when Jake Paul gets knocked out. I just wanted like, I need to see it bro. Can you record?”
So, it’s evident that nobody can convince ‘KingRy’ about Mike Tyson potentially losing against Jake Paul, at least in this timeline. Well, another reason behind this choice could be Garcia’s feud with Jake Paul. He recently hopped on a FaceTime call with Paul, which didn’t go well.
The Problem Child makes a bold claim
The boxing world’s hottest rivalry continues to boil over. Fresh off his knockout win against Ryan Bourland, Jake Paul upped the ante by calling out his archnemesis, Ryan Garcia, during a live podcast recording. This face-to-face encounter sent tensions soaring, with a single comment from Paul pushing Garcia over the edge.
Okay enough, it’s on I’m going to have to do this! I’m going to end this JAKE PAUL BOXING THING.

Details about the specific remark that ignited Garcia remain under wraps, but one thing is certain: the war of words between these two young fighters shows no signs of abating. During the call, Paul even claimed that he’d defeat Garcia just like Gervonta Davis. Later, Garcia made a post, where he stated, “Okay enough, it’s on I’m going to have to do this! I’m going to end this JAKE PAUL BOXING THING.”

So, this verbal altercation could also be the reason why Garcia chose Mike Tyson over Jake Paul. However, a lot of people think that age wouldn’t be a factor in this upcoming fight. Well, this will only be revealed during fight night. What do you think about this? Tell us in the comments section.
