Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk might be competing in the heavyweight division but is originally a cruiserweight. Moreover, the Ukrainian has also been the undisputed champion of the division which only shows how good of a boxer he is. However, he still needs to beat WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury to cement his legacy as an all-time great.

Fury called out Usyk following his victory against Dereck Chisora, with many shots taken at Usyk’s smaller physique. Fury has often criticized ‘The Cat’ for being small and claimed that he would not have a chance against a larger and more skilled boxer like himself. Despite, this Usyk is confident he can beat ‘The Gypsy King’ with a smaller physique even taking some shots aimed at the British boxer.

The unified champ took to Twitter and doubled down on Fury calling him a ‘middleweight’. He wrote this insult like a badge of honor and even poked fun at Fury’s physique. “The average weight is here. Where are you belly?”  wrote Usyk.

Fury has become notorious for being overweight. However, this doesn’t seem to have affected his skills. Despite this, the fans were quick to react to Usyk’s transformation ahead of his blockbuster contest with Fury.

Fans react to Oleksandr Usyk’s lean physique

One fan told Usyk not to underestimate Fury like his fellow countryman Wladimir Klitschko, who lost his title to ‘The Gypsy King’.

Another fan claimed that Usyk could now run away from Fury for 12 rounds.

One fan was so shocked at the transformation that he thought this was an older picture of when Usyk was at cruiserweight.

Moreover, one fan stated that Fury needed to lose a few pounds if he wants to keep up with Usyky’s cardio.

A fan also praised Usyk’s swimwear in which he posted the picture.

However, one fan was confident that this new physique won’t help him against Fury.

While the fans appreciated Usyk’s dedication towards getting in shape, this might not be enough to beat ‘The Gypsy King’. On paper, Usyk does seem to be a far more skilled boxer. However, Fury possesses a significant size advantage over ‘The Cat’. In addition, Fury also has footwork and head movement unlike any other boxer Usyk has faced before.

This fight is certainly a great matchup with both fighters having similar chances of victory. Moreover, the heavyweight division hasn’t seen an undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis, which hopefully fans will see in 2023.
