In his debut boxing match against Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou showcased his dedication and skill, landing powerful shots and knocking down ‘The Gypsy King.’ Despite his impressive performance, he lost the bout in a controversial split decision. Many viewed Ngannou’s defeat as contentious. He surprised many who believed the odds to be in Fury’s favor. None of the spectators expected Fury to be on the receiving end of these many power punches, that too from a debutant.

YouTube sensation Logan Paul has added his name to the list of entities who believe the verdict was not fair. Paul did not hesitate in making his opinion known on X.

Paul, who has also stepped into the ring after having a successful YouTube career believes the reason Fury secured his win was the rigged system of scoring. “Really sucks to see Ngannou get blatantly robbed like that… boxing needs a more objective system in place for scoring. The subjectivity & inherent bias of hand-picked judges is ruining the credibility of the sport” said Paul.

According to Paul, the decision was nothing short of robbing Ngannou of his well-deserved victory. Such instances make him question the integrity of the sport of boxing.

Ngannou voices his disappointment with the fight’s outcome

Following a hard-fought 10-round battle between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury, the judge Ed Garner scored the bout 95-94 in favor of Ngannou. However, Alan Kerbs and Juan Carlos Pelayo scored it 95-94 and 96-93, respectively, in Fury’s favor. This split decision ensured Fury’s undefeated status.

Ngannou’s post-fight interview also holds insights into his perspective on the match. He wanted to prove that he could take the win home even when facing the heavyweight champion. Though he gained the trust and admiration of fans and boxing enthusiasts worldwide, this mission was left unaccomplished. “The fact that I didn’t win surprised me… If he’s being honest, he would say I won that fight. I won that fight, there’s not a question about it” said Ngannou speaking to ESPNMMA.
