Will Jake Paul's arrogance be his downfall against the legendary Mike Tyson in the ring?

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul‘s fight at AT&T Stadium has heated up after the 58-year-old slapped the Problem Child during the official weigh-ins. The altercation resulted in Paul showing his aggressive side and promising to “kill” the Brooklyn native in the ring on Friday night.

This is exactly what the former four-division champion, Roy Jones Jr. was worried about. Captain Hook was the last person to share a boxing ring with Tyson when the duo faced each other in an exhibition match on November 28, 2020, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. And even though the 66-10 boxer had predicted Iron Mike to be the heavy favorite, he had golden advice for El Gallo. A piece of advice that, it seems, Jake Paul completely ignored during the official weigh-ins.

The 55-year-old sat down with fellow boxing Hall of Famer Andre Ward, and former NBA champions Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on Andre Ward’s YouTube channel—ATS to discuss the upcoming fight. The group opened up about various things, from their opinion on Jake Paul and his boxing career to the current state of Mike Tyson.

According to Jones Jr., Iron Mike is far more serious about this fight as compared to when he faced him in 2020. “I think he’ll get even better for Jake because he got pretty good for me,” stated Superman. He further mentioned that “it was hard to hit him(Tyson) and he really shocked me(with his power).” The worrisome thing for Jones Jr. was that he faced him in an exhibition match. But the fight against Jake Paul is far more serious and it will motivate Tyson to be at his best.

That is why the Pensacola native advised The Problem Child to not disrespect the 58-year-old considering his age. According to Jones Jr., the best strategy for Jake Paul in this fight would be to not get over himself in the initial round. “We gonna treat him like he’s 58… but in those first couple rounds, we gotta make sure we think he’s 38,” stated Jones Jr. advising Paul to just survive the initial rounds.

He further stated that it would be beneficial for Paul if he dragged the fight longer and took charge in the later rounds. But the former four-division champion was clear on the fact that Paul should not be arrogant and disrespect the 58-year-old. “He’s gotten even bigger you see how big he is,” stated Jones in a shocked tone, expressing how Mike Tyson’s power can still destroy you.

However, we know that Jake Paul does not do well with advice. He is arrogant, and he takes pride in that. After all, he has made his career out of riling his opponents. The Problem Child completely ignored Roy Jones Jr.’s advice during the weigh-in, as he predicted a knockout victory promising to “kill” the boxing legend.

Mike Tyson slapped away the advice

Both the boxers successfully completed their weigh-in, with Tyson coming in at 228.4 lbs and Paul at 227.2 lbs. The tension arose when both boxers came face-to-face and, according to Tyson’s long-time friend, Tom Patti“Jake stepped on Mike’s foot.” This resulted in the former two-time heavyweight champion slapping Jake Paul. The incident shocked everyone in the arena except the Problem Child, who took it as an initiation for war.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer shrugged off the slap and stated to Ariel Helwani, “I didn’t even feel it. He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf…cute slap buddy,” to mock the legendary boxer. Paul, who was talking in a calm tone, suddenly yelled in anger, stating that this fight had become personal now. “Tomorrow you’re getting knocked the f*** out. I’m f***ing him up, Ariel… It’s personal now! He must die!” yelled Jake Paul in a furious tone.

The Puerto Rico resident took his trolling to the next level when he posted the video of the incident with the caption, “Is this my Chris Rock moment?” referring to the Oscar 2022 slapgate incident when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Jake Paul even changed his profile picture to Chris Rock, taking the trolling to a completely new level and making it clear that he has no intentions of respecting his opponent and following the advice of Roy Jones Jr.

Will this trolling come back to haunt Jake Paul remains to be seen when he steps into the ring with Mike Tyson.
