Rolly Romero has found his next opponent in Isaac Cruz. The two are set to fight on the Keith Thurman Vs Tim Tszyu co-main event on March 30. Romero will be defending his 140-pound WBA belt. Cruz would have to move up from 135 to make the weight. While Ryan Garcia prepared fans to see him fight Romero after much drama, this news has come as a surprise to many. Mike Coppinger revealed the news on X, confirming the fight and taking fans aback.

Coppinger wrote, “Rolly Romero and Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz have finalized a deal to fight for Romero’s WBA 140-pound title on March 30 in Las Vegas, sources tell ESPN. Fight will serve as the PPV co-main to Tim Tszyu-Keith Thurman. Cruz moves up to 140 pounds for the title shot.”

On the same card, the Tszyu vs. Thurman bout is anticipated to be the main attraction, given Tszyu’s undefeated status and Thurman’s record of 30 wins and 1 loss. However, the co-main event featuring Romero against Cruz is considered one of the most compelling matchups currently in boxing. With both fighters demonstrating strength and skill, Romero vs. Cruz is expected to be a standout co-main event, contributing to the overall excitement of the fight card.

What is interesting is there were talks about a Garcia vs Isaac fight happening, but Garcia pushed for Romero and finally confirmed it a few hours ago as well. But as it seems, ‘KingRy’ might have to look for someone else now.

How is Ryan Garcia taking this?

As one would expect, Garcia was flabbergasted by the news. He had to bend over backward to make the fight happen. Even Floyd Mayweather, the owner of Mayweather Promotions, the company Romero is signed with, had given the fight a green signal. Garcia posted on X reacting to the sudden change in plans.

“Look I was informed the deal was finalizing and it would be announced in the coming days. Obviously That was a lie. My patience has been tested the last few weeks. I’m trying my best to be as honest and real as I can to you guys,” said Garcia, explaining his earlier tweets. He promised to put on a huge show for DAZN in his next fight, which he will announce only after the contract is signed. Time does not seem to be in support of Garcia with his recent divorce, feuds with his own promoter and now falling off from this fight.
