Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero has made his intentions crystal clear regarding a potential rematch with Ryan Garcia. The two squared off earlier this month in Times Square, New York, where the 29-year-old Romero shocked fans by dropping Garcia in the second round and walking away with a unanimously decided win.
The loss marked the second of Garcia’s professional career and appeared to take a heavy emotional toll. ‘King Ry’ was visibly distraught in the aftermath, even seen weeping as questions swirled about his future in the sport. Despite the setback, Garcia has expressed interest in running it back, not just with Romero, but also with Devin Haney, whom he was originally scheduled to face in October.
That bout is now uncertain following the defeat. “You know, whatever the fans want,” he said during the post-fight press conference. “If they want me to run it back with Rollies, let’s do it. If they want me to go straight for Devin, let’s do it. Styles make fights. And, yeah, I’m willing to fight any of them again,” Garcia added.

But does Romero share Garcia’s desire for a rematch? During a recent appearance on Fight Hub TV, Romero didn’t mince words when asked about a rematch clause with Garcia: “Yeah, I’ll probably whoop his a** again. That was the easiest fight I’ve ever done.” It’s worth noting if (and it’s a big if) there’s a rematch clause in their contract, Romero wouldn’t have a choice in the matter.
Despite that, Garcia isn’t the only one Romero is open to fighting. In fact, he is aiming for something bigger, which will potentially define his legacy in the sport.

Ryan Garcia might not get his rematch, as Rolly Romero targets Manny Pacquiao
Fresh off a shocking win over Ryan Garcia, Romero has set his sights on boxing legend Manny Pacquiao for his next big challenge. Despite holding a secondary WBA welterweight title, Romero isn’t eager to face current champions like Jaron Ennis or Mario Barrios.
“Would I be remembered for beating Jaron Ennis? Or beating Manny Pacquiao? What’s the biggest fight in the boxing world?” Romero told The Ring. “I’ll fight [Pacquiao]. He’s coming back for a certain reason. It’s still a legacy fight for me.”

Romero believes the spectacle and historical weight of fighting Pacquiao outweigh current title pursuits. “There are so many bigger fights for me,” he said. Romero also teased future bouts with Gervonta Davis or Adrien Broner but made clear his priority is a bout that cements his name in boxing lore—and Pacquiao fits that bill.
