As expected, Ryan Garcia defeated Oscar Duarte tonight who pretty much served the role of a stepping stone for ‘KingRy’. Following this successful comeback, Garcia expressed his desire to win the WBA Super Lightweight title. Likewise, he called out Rolando Romero who currently possesses it.
In no time, Rolly paid heed to Garcia’s call on X. Looks like Garcia has found his next fight at 140 lbs. Well, here is what happened.

After the victory, Ryan Garcia gave a shoutout to his current coach Derrick James. And speaking of his future with James, Garcia called out Rolando Romero for a fight. In doing so, ‘KingRy’ pointed out the fact that Rolly fought Ismael Barroso, 40, in his last fight. “I’m committed to becoming a world champion. If Rolly wants that, bring it on Rolly. I know you talk a lot, let’s get that going, Rolly. Where [are] you at? You got beaten up by that old dude. We know what happened. Don’t be trying to fake it,” Garcia said.

Following Garcia’s call-out, Romero took to X and predicted the outcome of his fight with ‘KingRy’. “Rolly by murder in the first,” said the WBA Super Lightweight champion. In addition, he criticized Garcia’s performance against Duarte. “What the f**k did I just watch?” wrote Rolly who considers Gervonta Davis his biggest blessing.

Ryan Garcia breaks down his fight with Duarte
Garcia, after winning against Duarte via an 8th-round KO, branded his performance “great.” In addition, he praised Duarte for the way he fought. According to Garcia, Oscar was a strong fighter who could take a good punch. “He’s a Mexican fighter like me. You’re tough. I hit him with some hard shots and he just kept coming. It was very tough. But I started using [my] legs. Derrick was like, ‘Man, start using your legs a little bit. It’s going to open up the shot.’ It literally did that,” Garcia said.
