Has Ryan Garcia been showing signs of deteriorating mental health? or is it a well-orchestrated publicity stunt for the upcoming Devin Haney fight masterminded by the Victorville Native? His recent antics have worried boxing fans. While some believe it’s all an act, others are more sympathetic to Garcia’s cause. In a recent pinch, fellow super lightweight fighter Rolando Rolly Romero spoke out about Garcia’s mental health!
Romero was originally supposed to fight Garcia. Instead, he chose to go up against Isaac Cruz, starting a beef with Garcia. So, the Victorville native arranged an even bigger showdown with Devin Haney. However, Garcia’s recent actions on social media have cast doubts on the fight even happening. Nevertheless, while appearing in an interview with Fight Hype yesterday, Romero set aside his differences with Garcia to underscore the severity of Garcia’s situation.

Speaking to Ron Goodall, Romero suggested Garcia needs support from the people around him because “What he’s going through isn’t a joke.” Seeing Garcia’s state of mind, Romero underscored, “You all need [to] stop slandering him and all this stuff because he’s speaking some s**t…it’s a cry for help,” said Romero.
The WBA champ even suggested that Garcia’s claims could be true. “He might be speaking some information that people didn’t even know about, and everyone just [thinks] he’s crazy,” said Romero. When asked about his thoughts on whether Garcia’s April 20 fight would happen, Romero claimed the Victorville native doesn’t need to fight.
Seeing that ‘King Ry’ last fought in December, Romero thinks, “The kid has money, the kid like he [doesn’t] need a fight. Let the kid sit down and simplify his life. And then bring him back to [ring].” Reiterating the importance of people staying close to Garcia, Romero claimed, “The people that really care about him need to be close to him. But I think he doesn’t have people he trusts.”
Romero might have cast aside his beef with Garcia to support him, but the same can not be said about this super middleweight fighter.
Former IBF super middleweight champion issues warning
Following Garcia’s outburst online, Caleb Plant issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter). And he is not buying Garcia’s erratic behavior. Plant went as far as to warn young people of actions such as Garcia’s, claiming sooner or later, it would come back to bite them in the behind. He wrote, “Young ones beware, all attention is not good attention. You might get it, but at what cost?”

Young ones beware, all attention is not good attention. You might get it but at what cost? To be the punchline of everyone’s joke? To not be taken seriously? Then your own kids grow up to see it and when they start acting like then how do you plan on telling them not to do it?

Plant highlighted the consequences of such actions while claiming one day, the future generation will be inspired by it, and people like Ryan Garcia won’t have grounds to say otherwise. “To be the punchline of everyone’s joke? To not be taken seriously? Then your own kids grow up to see it, and when they start acting like, then how do you plan on telling them not to do it,” wrote Plant.
