Rolando “Rolly” Romero is fuming over the New York State Athletics Commission’s ruling that forces Ryan Garcia to pay $1.2 million to his promoter Golden Boy Promotions who put together the April event. However, that’s not the end of Garcia’s troubles! In addition, the Victorville native has to pay $10K to the NYSAC, who have banned for a year from boxing and turned his win into a no-contest.

Having tested positive for ostarine in April for his fight against Devin Haney, ‘King Ry’ will be eligible to fight again on 20 April 2025, and needs to produce clean urine samples to get his boxing license reinstated. Regardless, Rolly Romero isn’t happy about the ruling—he is more perplexed about it, as he revealed in an interview with Fight Hype yesterday!

During the interview, the reporter brought up the situation, probing Romero for a reaction. And boy, did Rolly react! Immediately after learning that Garcia will have to pay Golden Boy Promotions a huge sum, he exclaimed, “What the f**k is the point of that s**t then…” Still, in utter disbelief, Romero questioned why the money wouldn’t go to Devin Haney, who had to fight a PED-induced Garcia while putting his life on the line.

It’s worth mentioning that the verdict might be to punish Garcia by taking away his winnings from the fight, but in reality, he made much more from the actual fight through pay-per-view sales, sponsorship deals, and whatnot. Unable to wrap his mind around it, Romero added, “That’s f**king weird. That’s my opinion, that’s f**king weird…”

When reminded that Haney got his zero back, Rolly highlighted that Haney missed out on the money, suggesting “There’s something really awful about that whole situation.” Meanwhile, Garcia and Haney seem to be going at it again on social media after Garcia’s suspension.

While celebrating his rival’s suspension, Haney wrote on X that he is happy about the fight being ruled a no-contest because “I wouldn’t wanna win like that once this suspension is over @RyanGarcia let’s run it back”. However, Ryan Garcia seemed to be done with Haney, as he revealed bigger plans for a bigger fight.

Responding to Haney’s tweet, the Victorville native wrote back, “Devin thinks our rematch is the biggest fight in boxing nah goofy”. According to Garcia, he wants to face Gervonta Davis in a rematch when his ban gets lifted next year, adding, “You are just P diddy side piece dev”. This tweet started a major back-and-forth between the two on X, with either fighter hurling insults at each other.

Even though Devin Haney didn’t get a piece of Garcia’s $1.2 million fight purse, he seems content with Rayn Garcia sitting on the sidelines. But the question is, will this new ruling help Devin Haney’s tarnished reputation? Will Haney ever be looked at as one of the best?
