The resilient lightweight, Gervonta Davis, has serious plans of moving up to the super-lightweight roster. Davis wants to extend his exemplary boxing run at the 140-pound division as well. And he’s getting aligned to fight with Mario Barrios, the regular WBA super-lightweight champion.
However, this idea didn’t quite impress the interim lightweight champ, Rolando Romero. He scoffed over ‘Tank’s move to the super-lightweight roster, as he believed Davis’ short frame might not help in having a successful reign at the division.
In an interview with FightHype, he said, “I think Barrios might be a little too big. Mario is big. He doesn’t have big legs, but he’s big and Barrios can crack…Barrios too tall.”

“The thing is, like I said, that height. He’s a big boy. That height is a lot, you know. And Tank is like, what, 5’3”, 5’2”? He’s really short, you know.”
Despite his short frame, Gervonta Davis has some sensational wins under his belt. He adopts an offensive approach and counters his opponents with ease. Moreover, he employs his power as well to annihilate his combatants.
Davis is pretty keen on adding another feather to his cap. And there is no one better than the undefeated Mario Barrios to welcome him to the competitive super-lightweight landscape.

Can Gervonta Davis become the unified super-lightweight champion by 2021 end?
‘Tank’ is among the most powerful young talents in boxing at present. Ever since his debut, he’s shown enough capabilities inside the squared circle. Davis is just 26 and has an astonishing 24 wins with 0 defeats to his name.
Moreover, 23 of his wins have arrived by T/KO.
With his dominating approach, he will prove to be a sure threat to any and everyone he faces. And since he’s decided to move up in weight, he’ll only get better and even more intimidating.
However, the super-lightweight division is filled with equally talented pugilists and ‘Tank’ will have to make some serious changes to his game-plan.
