It is becoming more and more evident that the month of July is the month of the welterweight boxing division. With the excitement and blood rushing for the upcoming marquee fight between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr., another necessary Welterweight bout will be on the canvas in just a few hours. Jaron Ennis is going to go head-to-head against Tenezuelan slugger Roiman Villa. The IBF Interim titlist last fought in January against Karen Chukhadzhian. But he has been unable to finalize a big fight since then, so he has now decided to go with an underdog. And this Saturday, both boxers will touch their gloves prior to the bell at The Ballroom at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Besides this, the secondary Welterweight title fight was also scheduled on the undercard of Ennis-Villa between WBA “regular” champion Eimantas Stanionis and undefeated Vergil Ortiz Jr. But Ortiz pulled out again for the second time this year due to some medical reasons. Nonetheless, Villa is ready to face his opponent this Saturday, as they are done with their Weigh-In. But still, he has his future plans all set for his position in the division.

Roiman Villa wishes to be considered among the big boys in the division. And he firmly believes that this fight will be a gateway for him to fighting better and tougher opportunities. He has also stated that he’ll be watching the enthralling contest on July 29th, Terence Crawford-Errol Spence Jr. Although his current main focus is Ennis for now, his main goal is the Undisputed Welterweight title.
In his final press conference, Villa revealed, “If I win on Saturday night, then bring on anybody. Bring on Spence, bring on Crawford. Bring on, anyone.” So, the fighter is ambitious and quite honest about his future visions. Currently on a 7-fight winning streak, Villa has won 26 fights and has managed to win 24 of them by knockout. So he seems to be a promising fighter.
But Ennis will not back down so easily either. After all, the boxer is the undefeated champion, with a flawless record of 30-0 and 27 Knockouts to flaunt. He has even talked about fighting the winner of Spence-Crawford once he’s done with this fight.
