This Christmas season has not been a very cheerful one for soccer fans as Brazilian soccer legend Pele recently passed away at the age of 82. The three-time World cup winner died after having a long battle with cancer and also suffering from a host of health issues.

This also included a hip surgery that left him with recurring pain and reduced his public appearances as well. The news came as a shock to many who were just digesting the highs of one of the best world cups in recent memory. However, the world was quick to pay its respects to the man who defined soccer in his ear. In addition, boxing legend Mike Tyson’s sons were also devastated by this loss and paid their respects to Pele.

Moreover, another one of Iron Mike’s children also followed in the footsteps of his brother. His son Miguel Leon Tyson also posted a story on Instagram sharing one of Pele’s social media posts, along with a green heart emoji in the middle.

The two young and upcoming boxers were seemingly shocked, like the rest of the world, at this tragic news. However, Pele will forever be remembered in the hearts of football fans around the globe.

French star Kylian Mbappe also came out with a post paying homage to the ‘king of football’. “The king of football has left us but his legacy will never be forgotten. RIP KING …” he wrote. One could argue that Pele had the same impact on soccer as Muhammad Ali did on boxing. He was a player that shaped his generation and left a legacy on and off the court unmatched to this day.
