It has been three years since the tragic passing of young boxing prodigy Haaver Ali Toheed Tazeem, affectionately known as Ali Tazeem. On April 17, 2022, the 18-year-old lost his life in a fatal car accident in Wolverhampton, a devastating event that sent shockwaves through the British Asian boxing community.

Often hailed as the ‘next Amir Khan,’ Ali Tazeem had signed a professional contract and was seen as a rising star in the sport. His death marked not only the loss of a gifted athlete but also of a dream just beginning to unfold. Former world champion Amir Khan, who once said, “He will be the next me and make history,” was among the many who mourned the untimely loss. Ali began his boxing journey at the age of eight at Priory Park Boxing Club in Dudley while attending Colton Hills Community School. He later trained at Prospects Amateur Boxing Club in Derby before joining Pound 4 Pound Boxing Academy in Walsall. The gym was founded by his father, Mr. Toheed Tazeem, lovingly known as Dr. Tee.
