Remember the influencer-turned-boxer, Albert Ochoa? The same man who became famous for taking Kylie Jenner to the prom? Well, he has been accused of theft. As it turns out, he also now remains without a trainer as a repercussion for the alleged crime.

Sacramento native, Ochoa is still a newbie to the sport. He remains busy bridging his acumen as a gym rat to meet the nitty-gritty requirements of the ring. He last fought Xavier Long in an exhibition fight in June last year. That brought his record to a full number of 4-1. Now, with this new accusation against him, this record might remain stagnant for a while.

On Instagram stories, Brandon Cortez, boxing strength and conditioning coach alleged that Ochoa had used Bob Santos, his trainer’s credit card, without permission. As a direct implication of this alleged theft, Cortez further announced that Bob Santos, and his son, Joseph Santos, would not be associated with the fighter anymore.

In the social media communication, Cortez noted, “@bobsantosboxing @jsantosbxn will no longer be training non-professional exhibition fighter @albertochoa05 after finding out he’s been using Bob’s credit card without his consent.”

After getting a few fights under his record, the Las Vegas-based fighter joined forces with 2022 Ring Magazine, Trainer of the Year, Bob Santos. The trainer has worked with fighters like Joe Amato and Eddie Devine with junior welterweight boxer Mario Barrios, being his most famous prospect. Santos, who also won Sports Illustrated Trainer of the Year in the same year, had some impressive notes to make as he took Ochoa under his wings.

“You play football, you play basketball, you play baseball. Professional prize fighting….you’re putting your life on the line, there’s no two ways about it. I didn’t even really have to talk to him about…’Is this something you really want to do?’ I can tell by the determination of the kid when he came in the gym….the way he hit the bags, some of the processes he went through with the sparring, so I didn’t really have to say anything,” he told KTNV last year.

These allegations come at a very crucial time for the fighter. Still, in the nascent stage of his career, such claims could jeopardize his run in the sport. It would also slim the chance of him landing a new, well-noted trainer. While no statement has been released from his side, it remains to see if this update could get any bigger from this point.
