In 2007, the Brit Ricky Hatton went all guns blazing against boxing bigwig Floyd Mayweather. Back then, the latter was in his prime and he consequently decided to take on the stout Hatton to solidify his legacy in the welterweight roster. Also, in the buildup to the fight, Mayweather had tried everything to get into ‘The Hitman’s head.
That said, recently Hatton was in a chat with Sky Sports, wherein he revealed a hilarious incident about Mayweather, who wanted a pilot to overtake the plane.
Hatton said, “I think we were flying from Los Angeles or New York to Los Angeles or somewhere in Vegas, somewhere like that. And we’re on the plane, they’re going then and the pilot goes ‘Ricky, come here!'”

“And he put the speaker on and Floyd’s going, ‘Go on man, come on. I’ll give you whatever money you want to overtake him.’ So funny”.
‘The Hitman’ even unveiled that Mayweather, in the entire buildup to the fight, had shown off his health and taken a dig at him. He tried everything to get in the British boxer’s head and eventually stagger him on fight night. But Hatton seemed unmoved from Mayweather’s mental games, and he only kept his focus on the fight.
Moving into this bout, even Hatton came in with an immaculate track record. And a huge chunk of fans expected him to bag a win in the biggest bout of his life.

As the fight began, Ricky Hatton adopted an offensive approach and was even on the verge of knocking Mayweather down. He kept the fans entertained and had his fair and share moments inside the ring.

However, ‘Pretty Boy’ responded well and took control of the ring in the latter half of the fight. As a result, he smothered Hatton in round 10 and claimed a vicious T/KO win.
Despite ending on the losing vertical, ‘The Hitman’ was highly applauded for his performance. And the way he employed his game plan and strategies, he unquestionably proved to be one of the toughest opponents for Mayweather.
