Great news for the residents of NYC! As per the latest updates, Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney will take place in New York City on April 20th this year. Following the win against Oscar Duarte on December 9th last year, ‘KingRy’ publicly declared he wanted a shot at a world title. On that note, as soon as Devin Haney, a week later, dethroned Regis Prograis to become the new WBC Super-Lightweight champion, Garcia called out ‘The Dream’.

Finally, the two are ready to fight! Since Garcia and Haney have made a significant contribution to the sport with a total of 56 fights, boxing fans cannot wait to see the duo enter the ring. On that note, Oscar De La Hoya took to social media and revealed the new venue for Garcia vs. Haney.

Last year, the most exciting events took place in Las Vegas. T-Mobile Arena alone hosted Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia, Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr. and Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo. But, New York City has not had a big event since Deontay Wilder vs. Robert Helenius in 2022. As per the latest tweet by the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya, Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney will be hosted by Barclays Center on April 20th.

Taking to X, De La Hoya wrote, “@Realdevinhaney vs @RyanGarcia Will be live on @DAZNBoxing from @barclayscenter promoted by @GoldenBoyBoxing 4/20/24.”

Following the tweet by De La Hoya, Mike Coppinger from ESPN reminded the boxing world that Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney was initially planned for Las Vegas. But, Coppinger was glad that “big-time boxing” was finally returning to NYC after a long time. In addition, Coppinger mentioned that NYC was  “pretty dormant” as far as marquee events were concerned. Hopefully, with Garcia vs. Haney, there will be a new dawn for Barclays Center and New York City.
