Celebrating a life well-lived brings its own kind of joy, even as we say goodbye to someone who has moved on to the heavenly abode. The boxing world is not dwelling on the void left by Tommy Smalls, the legendary boxing trainer. Instead, it’s illuminated by the enduring legacy and remarkable impact he leaves behind. Smalls was a member of Floyd Mayweather’s training camp. Not only this, he was monitoring the training of 16-year-old boxing prodigy Devin Haney.

Smalls had left Mayweather’s camp in 2012, around the time when rapper 50 Cent and Mayweather had a public falling out. Despite his departure from the camp, Smalls still holds Mayweather in high regard. The same emotions have been reciprocated by ‘Money’ as he heard the saddening news of Tommy’s departure.

How Floyd Mayweather and other boxing greats honored Tommy’s enduring legacy

Ushering the plethora of messages reviving late Tommy’s legacy, we first have Floyd Mayweather. ‘Pretty Boy’ took to his Instagram to post a picture of T Smalls. Then, he expressed his love for Tommy by saying, “Rest in Peace my brother I will always love you!”

Joining hands with Mayweather is Devin Haney. The boxer posted a couple of heartwarming pictures with Tommy on his Instagram and then expressed his deep gratitude and love for Tommy Smalls. He prayed for his forgiveness and acceptance into paradise. ‘The Dream’ penned, “I will forever love & miss you.. I appreciate everything you ever taught me.. May Allah forgive you for your sins & accept you in paradise Ameen I love you T smalls!”

Similarly, Zab Judah mourned the loss with heartfelt emotion, emphasizing the pain of Tommy’s passing. Judah professed, “RIP Tommy Smalls  #MyGuy #ThisOneHURT Love You Tom.”

Next, Andre Berto, the former World Champion also reminisced about the good times he had with Tommy. He commented on Judah’s post, and he wished Smalls a peaceful rest. As he put into words, “Wow damn my man Tommy, had some good times. Rest easy champ.”

Furthermore, Andre Dirrell, the 2004 Olympic Bronze Medalist and boxing trainer echoed these sentiments. He highlighted Tommy’s sense of humor and wished him rest. Like he said, “Had some good times with T Smalls. Funny dude too! Rest up.”

Then, former NABF Super Middleweight champion, Dyah Davis, offered his sincerest condolences, rounding out the collective sense of loss and appreciation for Tommy Smalls. As he said, “My sincerest condolences champ.”
