In a tragic turn of events, beloved boxing trainer Mike Stafford, known for having trained the likes of Adrien Broner, Robert Easter Jr., Rau’shee Warren, etc., passed away at the age of 67 on Wednesday, September 6th. He had reportedly been fighting a health battle against an acute illness and passed away recently. Though, prior to his death, there were fake reports of him passing away. This led his family members to reveal that he was still alive with the “assistance of a breathing machine.”
However, the boxing coach was removed from life support and declared dead at around 3 p.m. As the news of his sad passing surfaced, it left the boxing world devastated. Several figures took the chance to mourn the death of the much-loved trainer as they remembered and celebrated all he had done for the sport.

Evan Holyfield took to Instagram and shared his memories, describing Stafford as always smiling and ever-helpful. “Thanks for all the good moments, the knowledge, and all the times we went into battle with each other,” he said. “You truly left your mark!” Even though he himself is currently suffering from a poor health condition, he appears to be unable to stop himself from paying tribute to the late trainer.

Promoter Lou Di Bella acknowledged Stafford’s mentoring and caring nature. He stated that Stafford is one of the “really good people” in boxing. He also pointed out how the coach mentored “many young fighters,” adding that he was someone who genuinely cared about others.
