Sunny Edwards candidly expressed his opinions on the Conor Benn fiasco. Last year in October, the former welterweight champion tested positive for Clomiphene in his VADA drug test. Since then, Benn has been in controversy and the fiasco exacerbated as and when Benn vehemently opposed consuming or injecting any banned substances.

Though many fans did not buy Benn’s reasoning and drew their conclusions based on their perception, Edwards did not shy away from making his opinion public as well. He took to Twitter to express how he feels Benn is indeed guilty of consuming banned substances.

Edwards is one of the best flyweight boxers and was signed to “Matchroom Boxing” a few weeks ago. Recently, he was responding to a fan who thought that being signed to the promotion would make him turn a blind eye toward the allegations held against boxers managed by Matchroom Boxing.

However, Benn is managed by Matchroom Boxing itself and Edwards cleared the air as he confessed that he thinks Benn is guilty of consuming banned substances.

He stated, “I think Conor Benn is one of the most obvious cases I’ve seen. Haven’t got to be a body language or nonverbal expert to tell he’s been lying every time he’s been in front of camera since getting caught. Walking around ringside of an AJ fight with multiple security wearing a vest gave me the ick also”

Edwards and Benn are co-fighters under the same management but the flyweight champion did not hesitate to speak his mind. The fans at larger were stunned to see the boxer make such a public statement. Here are a few fan reactions:

One fan does not buy Edwards making his perception based on appearance by a satirical comment. He stated, I mean… you look like you’ve been eating eggs ately.”

One fan acknowledged the honesty and revealed the potential reason why Eddie Hearn took so long to sign him.

One fan revealed his reason as to why Benn is guilty.

On similar lines, another fan stated, Yeah it gave me “I’m the bad guy” vibes”

Lastly, one fan appreciated the honesty from Edwards.

 

It appears that the fans at large appreciate the honesty of Edwards for speaking his mind despite being signed to the same promotion.
