The internet star, Ryan Garcia, is all set to confront a stern opponent in form of Javier Fortuna. The bout between the two isn’t official yet, but it is reported that the duo has agreed to take each other on by July 2021. This fight will be for the WBC interim lightweight belt, wherein the winner will set himself up for a title shot against the champ, Devin Haney.
Mike Coppinger reported the same on his official Twitter handle.
“Sources: Ryan Garcia and Javier Fortuna have agreed to terms for a 135-pound fight set for July on DAZN. Bout will land in either L.A. or Las Vegas. Another tough test for Garcia on the heels of breakthrough win over Luke Campbell. Deal avoids purse bid,” he tweeted.

Garcia last fought in January 2021 against Luke Campbell. The fight didn’t begin on a pleasant note for ‘KingRy’ as he went down to the canvas in just the second round of the bout. Yet, he displayed a champion mindset post that knockdown and kept Campbell on his toes for the rest of the fight.
Moving further, it was in round 7 when ‘KingRy’ landed a crushing body shot on Campbell and closed the show.
The young gun proved his mettle in the toughest fight of his life and even claimed the WBC interim lightweight belt. With this win, Garcia improved his clean track record to 21 wins, thus cementing his spot in the stacked 135-pound division.

He is equally hungry as Garcia to claim a title shot and challenge the champion, Devin Haney. That said, only one among the two can reach the summit and challenge ‘The Dream’.
This fight promises to be an absolute barn burner, and it’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top.
