Regis Prograis knows a thing or two about fireworks. His heavy-handed punches spark the arena, offering fans exciting action and giving them a night to remember whenever he walks into the ring. But that’s not it. The former WBC super lightweight champion knows how to put on a show, including his high-octane and electrifying walkout, suggesting what is to come next.
Prograis, 35, will fight Jack Catterall this coming Saturday at Co-op Live Arena in Manchester in a high-stakes fight, where the win will propel the victor back into the title conversation. A win for either will ensure a title fight in the already crowded Super Lightweight division. But ‘Rougarou’ would endeavor to clinch it for himself. While that remains to be seen, there is another question on fans’ minds. Which song will Prograis walk to the center of the squared circle? While we don’t have a guess, we can have a look at the songs he has used in the past.

Prograis faced Jose Zepeda with the vacant WBC super lightweight title on the line at the Dignity Health Sports Park. It was the first time after the World Boxing Super Series that he was fighting for a world title, and he wanted to make the most of the opportunity. He decided to set the tone of the fight when he entered the ring while blasting Meek Mill‘s ‘Wins And Losses’.

The fight panned out exactly how the New Orleans native had envisioned. His aggressive fighting style and his powerful punches pierced through Zepeda’s defenses. The final blow came in the eleventh round, as he secured a knockout win and picked up the gold strap, making him a two-time world champion.

Interestingly, the first defense of Prograis’ WBC title came before his home crowd, as his promoters arranged a homecoming for the then-champion. He was booked to fight against Danielito Zorrilla at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. However, what attracted the fans’ attention was a person walking around behind him in a wolf suit in the all promotional events, including the weigh-ins and even during the fight when ‘Rougarou’ made his way through the ropes.

Another elaborate play to sway the home crowd was to invite the duo of Fresh x Reckless, who had made waves on the internet with their latest song, ‘Blicky’. The two singers performed their song live, as Prograis entered the ring and put on an impressive display. What’s more? The 29-2 record holder collected a close decision, as he edged out the challenger on the judges’ scorecards and the crowd witnessed their homegrown champion take the win and leave the arena as a champion.
Regis Prograis vs. Devin Haney

Prograis had the biggest fight of his career when he matched with Devin Haney, who had decided to move up from lightweight and start a new life. ‘The Dream’ had relinquished his undisputed title and had picked up Prograis as an opponent, because of the stylistic matchup. Despite being the champion, Prograis made the trip to San Francisco. But he also brought flair and charisma along with him. The southpaw boxer made an iconic entrance and walked to the ring in his famous Rougarou mask to defend his 140-pound WBC title.
He also used a befitting song, as he captivated the fans with his aura and Drake‘s famed song, ‘First Person Shooter (ft. J. Cole)’. Prograis couldn’t back his splendid walkout with his actions, as he failed to dominate and dictate the fight’s pace. By the end of the 12th round, it was clear that he had failed to do enough to defend his title in the enemy’s territory.
