Boxers make a lot of sacrifices to excel in their careers, which often ends up affecting the people in their lives as well. Former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who is about to enter the ring against Oleksandr Usyk for their highly anticipated rematch on December 21st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is definitely one of them.
The pair last met in the ring back in May when the Ukrainian boxer defeated ‘The Gypsy King’ via a split decision. Now, the 36-year-old is adamant about exacting revenge in a handful of days. He is so dedicated to achieving this goal that the Brit has revealed he hasn’t spoken to his wife and kids for three months while in training camp.

In a recent interview with TNT Sports, Dev Sahni asked Tyson Fury about his plans should he emerge victorious in the upcoming bout. “I’ll be flying home for Christmas,” the British boxer responded emphatically. “Plenty of eggnog and mince pies and turkeys and all that.” When prompted about getting back home for Christmas to meet his family, Fury shared the entire ordeal.

“I can’t [wait for Christmas],” he told Sahni. “I wish it was tonight and I was going home in the morning. It’s been a long camp, been away from my wife and kids for three months. I’ve not spoken to Paris at all in three months, not one word. Listen, it’ll be worth it 100%.”
Tyson Fury and Paris have been together since 2008, and have seven children together. Paris was often seen ringside for Fury’s fights, but she wasn’t in Riyadh during Fury’s last fight. And there’s a reason for that.

Tyson Fury revealed wife Paris’ miscarriage
Back in October, Tyson Fury revealed that his wife, Paris, suffered a miscarriage just a day before his first fight with Oleksandr Usyk in May. Paris, who was six months pregnant with their eighth child, lost the baby on the Friday before the fight, but Fury was shielded from the news.
“She was six months pregnant. It’s not like a small miscarriage at the beginning. You have to physically give birth to a dead child, on your own, while your husband is in a foreign country. To go through that on your own isn’t good,” Fury said.

Fury, who sensed something was wrong when Paris couldn’t attend the fight, later confirmed the tragic news upon his return. Despite the emotional turmoil, Fury insisted, “It’s not an excuse – hell no. I am a man of honor.” He added that the situation had no bearing on his performance against Usyk, though he admitted, “It takes a lot of getting over.”

That being said, Tyson Fury seems to have been through a lot in his quest to prove he is the best heavyweight in the current generation. However, even Oleksandr Usyk has made sacrifices in his journey to becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion. He missed the birth of his daughter when he was training for the first fight. This just shows how dedicated these two boxers are to the upcoming fight. What do you think of the sacrifices Fury has made?
