There is no denying that bears are one of nature’s fiercest apex predators. Exuding raw power with a gargantuan amount of muscle and size to match, these forces of nature can give all combat athletes, including the demigod Mike Tyson, a run for their money. However, bears are often ‘tamed’, and pushed to perform at circuses. But, what should be kept in mind, is that their wild instinct can kick in at any time. And once that happens, things go downhill surprisingly quickly. In fact, a recently resurfaced video from Russia was a fine example of this. British boxer Dan Azeez, on the other hand, joined fans to share his thoughts.

The video from 2019, reuploaded by Fight Haven on Twitter, shows a fully grown black bear attacking its handler during a circus performance. Notably, the bear was a part of a traveling circus in Olonets, Karelia, a region in northwest Russia. The animal was performing an act called Clubfoot and the Garden Wheelbarrow. This was when it pounced on its handler and started attacking him. Another performer quickly intervened and kicked the bear to separate it. Talking about the incident, a spokesperson said, “After the incident, we decided to part with the artist. And the act will be removed from the program.”

They also revealed that the handler escaped with minor injuries after the incident. The resurfaced video of the attack has since garnered over 4.1 million views.
