Inspired by the 2011 movie, Real Steel, a one-armed robot has been invented. It is truly path-breaking in the boxing sphere and takes the game to the next level. Qibo Robot Company has conceptualized a robot that responds to a person’s movements in almost one-hundredth of a second. Speak of Speed!

Qibo’s Yining Geng says, “Taking inspiration from the film and incentivized by the entertainment value, we decided to see if we can realise the concept of real-life fighting robots.

Qibo is based in Weihai, China. The company has named this state-of-the-art digital creature QIBBOTs. The team has derived heavy inspiration from the Hugh Jackman movie. They have created something that has a speed that’s never been spoken of before. The company’s invention is based on its experience in creating such robots that assist in clinical surgeries and other intricate operations.

However, the team is further working on another such robot but with two arms. The team also still grapples with the question of decreasing any latency that may occur. For instance, the setup is entirely based on a virtual reality rig that tracks the user’s movement. This also adds a 4 milliseconds of latency to the response.

But full props to the fact that this invention has come to light. A robot inspired by Real Steel?

Real Steel- a trailblazing pop culture moment in boxing

For a long time now, every boxing fan has referred to the 2011 movie Real Steel when it comes to envisioning a future in boxing. It is the dream of most boxing enthusiasts who wish to see a close relationship between the sport and the digital landscape. The movie stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, an ex-prizefighter who lost his fight terribly. The twist though? He did not lose it to humans but to heavy, massive robots.

On the lookout for redemption, Charlie then starts building his own robot. As the movie reaches the climax, we see the showdown between two humungous robots fights it off not for any belt but for Charlie’s reputation.
