The two Charlo brothers are somewhat of a menace in the boxing world. One has continuously dominated the Super welterweight division, while the other has kept his WBC title in the middleweight division secured. Jermall Charlo was offered the fight with Canelo Alvarez back in 2022. However, Alvarez later moved up to 175 to take on Dmitry Bivol instead. But destiny always prevails, as his younger twin brother by one minute, Jermell Charlo is now facing the Mexican boxer for the undisputed title in the super middleweight division.
The Charlo brothers’ road to success hasn’t always been a smooth ride, as they faced some bumps during their travel to the pinnacle of their respective divisions. One such jolt came in their life, when the older brother, Jermall Charlo was arrested back in February 2022, on the charges of an alleged assault in an incident that took place back in 2021.

On September 5, 2021, Jermell Charlo got into an altercation that had him by the neck for the next five months. According to the official report, the man who claimed to be the boxing brothers’ cousin was thwarted by Jermall just because he couldn’t get out of the UTV vehicle “quickly enough“. The alleged victim stated that he was punched thrice by the older brother and even grabbed his hair to pull him out.
He further claimed that this was done because Charlo’s wife wanted the vehicle to have fun with her friends. For that reason, Jermall got violent with the alleged victim. So, the middleweight champion boxer was taken in custody in February 2022 on the charges of assaulting a family man, as per the records of Fort Bend Jail.
A month later, it was revealed that the officials had also requested for a warrant to arrest the younger brother, Jermell Charlo as his involvement with the case also came to light.

According to the alleged victim, even Jermell Charlo was taken into the loop, as he claimed that the Lafayette-born boxer threatened him while getting thrashed by Jermall. He stated that Jermell verbally attacked him with a death threat, he recalled the boxer saying, “I will kill you with my bare hands.”
However, an entirely different picture was painted by the twins’ attorney, Kent Schaffer, where he explained how this was all a trick to snatch the money out of the brothers’ pockets. As he stated that the alleged victim was driving rashly on the road when Jermall’s wife tried to stop him and fell on the ground. At that point, Jermall came to the rescue of his wife where the altercation happened while Jermell was trying to stop everything.
